Career aims and Future Directions
- I think my future lies in an active role as a designer, with the opportunity to handle materials and encounter clients. This would be an ideal alternative to a potentially isolated desk job, designing digitally and in complete solitude. I think a creative team would be a perfect solution for this.
- I’m interested in pursuing branding as a
career aspiration, as I feel my strengths lie in developing the appearance and
tone of identities. This is something I’d enjoy within a creative team as it
seems natural to me to seek work in a collective environment, rather than locate
freelance work. A role I’m confident I
would contribute well in, with motivation and enthusiasm. I also trust my
ability to work well in solitude, especially during the latter design stages of
execution and presentation. Ultimately, I believe I possess an instinct to make
good design decisions concerned with producing visual outcomes.
- The work that has been most successful for me this year has involved photography and print based media, the result of effective art direction and key presentation skills. I'd say those are two definite areas I'd be keen to develop and remain as forte's in my design armoury.
- My aims are to promote myself
further with an online portfolio and a physical portfolio to take to
interviews I might be suited to. It’s vital the work that represents me is carefully selected based
on who I’ll be approaching. A balance must be obtained for varying scenarios,
for instance the number of projects and relevant projects to converse about. Ultimately
I hope the projects themselves might engage the observer and give me a platform
to express my interests and myself.
- I know for sure that I need to
locate some paid interning over the summer. To achieve this I’ll be applying
for placements, emailing around and looking to spread my online portfolio via online
blogs. I may even send handwritten letters out to companies within the design industry,
to spearhead my advances into creative circles. I’ve also considered applying
for internships abroad such as Astrid Stavro Studio, Barcelona, an agency I’ve
been keen on for quite some time.
