Thanks But No Thanks

Last week two of my fellow Kingston students/housemates Ben and Alex put on the widely acclaimed show 'Thanks But No Thanks' at Beach Gallery, East London. Over the past few months I witnessed the two of them contact a whole host of international designers and big names in creative circles, simply asking to donate any rejected work.

The response was huge and resulted in dozens of packages and letters arriving on our doorstep from the likes of Sagmeister, Experimental Jetset, Ian Wright, Ken Garland, Rob Ryan, Saffron etc..
In addition, the stories written alongside the works' failures were enlightening and equally fascinating.

Mine for £25

All the work was auctioned on the final night of the show, raising a total £700 in aid of Battersea Dogs Home. I was really happy to be a part of after bidding on a couple of pieces (I left with an original print by Ian Wright and a poster by AtlasStudio)

It was fantastic to see the concept of 'Rejection' come to fruition in an engaging way, turning the heads of practicing professionals on a level that we can all relate to. Something Adrian Shaughnessy's introduction could not of summed it all up any better.

A successful night and a well deserved finish to an outstanding project.
